The European Broadcasting Union is an alliance of public service media organisations, established on 12 February 1950. The organisation is made up of 72 members in 56 countries, and 34 associate members from a further 20 countries.
Source Transparency Indicators
In August 2018, The European Broadcasting Union hosted a workshop on ‘Source Transparency Indicators’. The main planned of the workshop was to elaborate on recommendations on how to tackle the online disinformation, and develop a self-regulatory Code of Practice addressed to platforms and advertisers.
Global Council to Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation
On 12th April 2018 at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy, The European Broadcasting Union along with its many other co-founders announced the launch of the ‘Global Council to Build Trust in Media and Fight Misinformation’.
The Council is non-political and will come together around the core issues of information sharing, innovation, collaboration and co-ordination of initiatives and ownership of our own narrative in the wider ecosystem.
