Background: The conference will gather local and international journalists and media professionals to discuss the latest trends, issues and professional standards related to reporting on terrorism and violent extremism in online, print and electronic media. This exchange of experience seeks to further develop capacities of journalists and civil society actors, in order to avoid unintentionally fostering hatred and division in society.

EJN Participation:

Aidan White the President of the Ethical Journalism Network spoke on a panel on “Reporting on terrorism in online, print, and electronic media” on September. Jean-Paul Marthoz, an EJN adviser and author of UNESCO’s Terrorism and the Media: A Handbook for Journalists. Terri Judd a consultant on Countering Violent Extremism and Strategic Communications was also on the panel.
