Simon Lloyd Trustee & Treasurer

Simon Lloyd was appointed to the EJN’s Board of Trustees in December 2021, taking over as Treasurer of the charity from Ashok Gupta.

Simon is a Chartered Accountant who adds experience to the Board in the areas of finance, not-for-profit, governance and risk management. He started his career with PwC before embarking on a successful career in financial services,  undertaking senior roles with Axa, Aegon, Old Mutual, and Legal & General. More recently, Simon has been working in the charity sector, with roles at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, a UK-based charity making grants to overseas organisations, Babban Gona, a social enterprise that is also the largest producer of maize in Nigeria, and the British Red Cross.

In his executive career, Simon has been a member of the Boards of over 50 companies and seen all stages of a company’s life-cycle providing a broad experience of governance scenarios. Further, as CFO he was invariably responsible for financial risk which touches upon all areas of any organisation.

Simon now has a small portfolio of trustee roles.  These include nasen (the National Association for Special Educational Needs) and local charities in his home city of Edinburgh. He is also supporting the ICAEW in their work supporting members carrying out volunteering roles and in looking at the role of finance professionals in Scotland can help their organisations better align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
