Christopher Hird Chair of Trustees

Christopher Hird joined the Ethical Journalism Network’s board of trustees in December 2020 and was appointed its Chair in March 2021. He is the founder and managing director of Dartmouth Films in London, which has pioneered new ways of funding, producing and distributing documentaries in the UK, with a particular emphasis on films which have an impact and often working with activist groups in civil society. A former stockbroker, he worked as a journalist on the Economist, New Statesman and Sunday Times, where he edited Insight. He is a former Managing Editor of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, for whom he wrote Investigative Journalism Works: the mechanism of impact, and is a patron of Index on Censorship and the Grierson Trust.
