On 27 February, the EJN attended a high-level conference on Freedom of the Media in the Western Balkans at Hofburg in Vienna organised in close cooperation with the Office of the OSCE Representative in Freedom of the Media.

The meeting was addressed by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, and the Representative for Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović.
The objective of the event was to provide a platform for the sharing of initiatives and best practices from the Southeast Europe region on pertinent media freedom issues affecting countries across the entire OSCE region with a particular focus on the Safety of Journalists and Media Ethics.
This conference also heard from regional experts, civil society networks, and government authorities in the area of media freedom.
