Media Literacy Conference 2016: Keynote speech

The Ethical Journalism Network’s director, Aidan White, took part in the opening session of the Media & Learning 2016 Conference on 10 March to help set the scene for the event.

The conference’s main aims were to “highlight the value and impact of media in enriching learning” and “reflect on how to promote that citizens of every age can have a critical understanding of the media as well as the skills to interact with it in a mindful way.”

The plenary session looked to highlight the main issues to be discussed at the conference in the “broader context of equipping all European citizens with the necessary skills and competencies to deal with an increasingly mediatised society as active creators rather than simply passive recipients.”
