The conference’s main aims where to “highlight the value and impact of media in enriching learning” and “reflect on how to promote that citizens of every age can have a critical understanding of the media as well as the skills to interact with it in a mindful way.”

The plenary session looked to highlight the main issues to be discussed at the conference in the “broader context of equipping all European citizens with the necessary skills and competences to deal with an increasingly mediatised society as active creators rather than simply passive recipients.”
