DESCRIPTION

The rise of online abuse has poisoned political debate and is turning good people away from getting involved with politics. Can anything done about it and is it possible to create a kinder, gentler politics?

Join us in Parliament on Tuesday 16th of October for the launch of WebRoots Democracy’s latest report:

Kinder, Gentler Politics: Tackling online abuse in political debate.

We’ll be setting out the findings of our research and presenting a set of radical recommendations for the Government, social media platforms, and individuals. Should the state play a bigger role in regulating tech giants? What more can the likes of Facebook and Twitter do? Do we all need to take a long, hard look at how we speak to each other online?

Speakers:

Chloe Smith MP – Minister for the Constitution, Conservative Party
Lily Madigan – Transgender activist, Teen Vogue 21 under 21
Khadija Said – Researcher, WebRoots Democracy

Chair: Areeq Chowdhury – Chief Executive, WebRoots Democracy

Further speakers to be announced.

Spaces are limited and your name will need to be on the guestlist in order to attend.

*Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event to allow time to pass through security at the Cromwell Green entrance.*
