Quando si tratta di discorso d’odio, I giornalisti e gli editori devono fermarsi e prendersi il tempo per valutare l’impatto potenziale di un contenuto offensivo e provocatorio. Il seguente test, sviluppato da EJN e basato su standard internazionali, evidenzia le problematiche della raccolta, preparazione e disseminazione di notizie e aiuta a collocare ciò che viene detto e chi lo dice in un contesto etico.

DISCORSO D’ODIO – UN TEST 5 IN PUNTI PER GIORNALISTI

 

1. STATUS DI CHI PARLA

  • In che modo la sua posizione può influenzare le sue motivazioni?
  • Dovrebbe essere ascoltato o semplicemente ignorato?

2. PORTATA DEL DISCORSO

  • Quanto lontano arriva il discorso?
  • Esiste uno schema di comportamento?

3. OBIETTIVI DEL DISCORSO

  • Produce dei vantaggi per chi parla e per i suoi interessi?
  • È volutamente teso a recare danni ad altri?

4. CONTENUTO VERO E PROPRIO

  • Il discorso è pericoloso?
  • Potrebbe incitare alla violenza contro altri?

5. CLIMA SOCIALE / ECONOMICO / POLITICO

  • Chi potrebbe essere toccato negativamente?
  • Ci sono precedenti di conflitto o discriminazione?

NON CEDERE AL SENSAZIONALISMO!
