When is off-camera not off-camera?

…When you are on camera with a mic on, according to Sky News.

With the UK’s Conservative party electing a new leader after David Cameron’s resignation following the referendum vote in favour of Britain leaving the European Union, veteran politician Ken Clarke was recorded giving unguarded comments about the prime minister’s possible replacements while still on mic and in front on the cameras.

Sky News decided that it was in the public interest to broadcast the comments.

However, some journalists questioned the choice.
