New Media Legislation in Macedonia: International Feedback Wanted

The Macedonian government is in the process of creating a new media legislation, and the EJN is assisting in getting international feedback on the draft laws. Hearings have already begun, yet this conversation was dominated by the pro-state media who were overwhelming positive about the proposed laws and suggested that there be laws forbidding foreign funding for NGOs and media.

Please take the time to review the Draft Media Law and the Draft Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, proposed by the Macedonian government, and provide your professional expertise before the next debate on August 20th. The EJN will forward your comments along for consideration, which you can write to [email protected] or discuss on the EJN LinkedIn group.
