Media under fire? Lessons from the US Elections

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown is a well-known journalist who has worked for The Guardian, Observer, The New York Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek, The Evening Standard, The Mail and other newspapers and was a regular columnist on The Independent for eighteen years. She now writes a weekly column for the International Business Times and continues to write for I newspaper, the Mail and other newspapers. She is also a radio and television broadcaster and author of several books. A recipient of multiple awards, she writes what she believes as honestly as possible. Her writings always mix the intensely personal with the political.

Aidan White is the Director, CEO, and founder of the Ethical Journalism Network, where he writes about human rights, ethics, and journalism. After working as a journalist with UK papers, he worked with the International Federation of Journalists, the International News Safety Institute, and the International Freedom of Expression Exchange.

Somnath Batabyal is a SOAS Lecturer in Media in Development and International Journalisms. He has worked as a journalist in India for organizations such as The Hindustan Times and the New Delhi Television (NDTV). He now has an academic focus on India, development discourses, and environmental politics as well as regularly contributes to Al Jazeera, BBC, and The Guardian.
