INSIDE ETHICS BLOG: Kosovo Calls for Media Coalition to Build Trust in Media

Rights and Jobs in Journalism

I was delighted to attend a meeting of the European Federation of Journalists in Zagreb this week for the launch of their new handbook on Building Stronger Unions in Europe. The connection between the rights and security of journalists and our ability to report independently and impartially was highlighted as a serious consequences for the freedom of the press by union representatives from around Europe. The situation is perhaps most acute in the Western Balkans and Turkey where our building trust in media project is gaining momentum following recent work in Serbia and Kosovo.

Next week we will be publishing a declaration from our successful workshop on migration and hate speech for journalists and editors from East Africa and Central Africa, which was also attended by representatives from the international (IFJ) and African (FAJ) journalist federations.

As always, please get in touch if you would like more about what we are doing and potential ways we can collaborate.
