African Media Leaders Forum

Over the years, AMLF has grown both in size and stature –debuting with a modest gathering of 55 delegates in 2008 to over 550 publishers, managing directors, CEOs and other media decision makers in November 2012 in Dakar, Senegal.

The 2013 Forum was organized in partnership with 4 key African institutions – the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), the African Union (AU), the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) as well as with the Sub-Saharan Africa Media Programme of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS Media Africa). The theme for this year’s Forum was “Media and African Renaissance”. AMLF 2013 took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Conference Hall on 7 and 8 November. Delegates’ registration began in the morning of November 6 at the same venue. And in the afternoon of November 6, in collaboration with the Organisation for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA), AMI held a public debate at the University of Addis Ababa on the theme ‘My Africa in 50 Years’.

AMI is pleased and honoured to announce that the Co-Chairs for AMLF 2013 are Dr Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union (AU).
