Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism 2016

9th Annual Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) Network Forum

1-3 December – Dead Sea, Jordan

The Ethical Journalism Network participated in the 9th annual Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) Network forum in Jordan’s Dead Sea from 1-3 December, featuring over 25 panels and workshops on topics such as personal safety of reporters in conflict, to cross-border investigations and telling stories on multiple platforms.

The forum celebrates a decade of ARIJ supporting investigative journalism in the Arab world under the theme “seeing, hearing, exposing”. Bringing together more than 320 Arab and international investigative editors, journalists, trainers, academics and media students the event provided practical training and high-quality speakers, most notably Walter “Robby” Robinson who led the Boston Globe Spotlight team’s Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation into the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal. Robinson, now the newspaper’s editor-at-large encouraged Arab journalists to continue uncovering the truth for the benefit of democracy, accountability and rule of law.
